H1N1 Flu Information
Each week CDC analyzes information about influenza disease activity in the United States and publishes findings of key flu indicators in a report called FluView. During the week of August 23-29, 2009, a review of these key indicators found that influenza activity increased in the United States. Below is a summary of the most recent key indicators:

•    Visits to doctors for influenza-like illness (ILI) were highest in February during the 2008-09 flu season, but rose again in April 2009 after the new 2009 H1N1 virus emerged. Current visits to doctors for influenza-like illness are down from April, but are higher than what is expected in the summer and have increased over the last two weeks.

Tips to Keep Your Mind Fresh and Healthy
How often have you caught yourself on the wrong foot trying to place the person who has stopped to greet you while shopping at the city mall? The faces seem familiar but try as you might but you just cannot recall his name.

Or, take the case when you parked your car only a short while ago and now you don't really remember where to locate it.

The reason for the blank out of memory is that the brain, like the rest of the body tires out due to various factors such as exertion, tiredness etc. Moreover we stuff it with more than it can actually contain. It is important realize that energy to the brain gets depleted in the course of time and so it needs to be recouped.

Take a Breather
Sometimes, some of the most mundane activities in your daily routine can be the much needed stress reliever of the day. After making a promise to myself about taking my steps toward wellness, I found some simple ways to release energy and rest myself in moments when I feel too overwhelmed. This has been especially helpful as I slowly near finals week!

1.) Take a walk around the block - When I feel like I can concentrate on something and my mind's in a jumble, I grab my jacket and take a quick walk around the block. It gets the blood flowing and some fresh air in the lungs. Plus, it's more productive than Facebook surfing, right?
